Introducing Basil (rhymes with frazzle)

Here he is, my new pride and joy - Basil the basil plant! I first laid eyes on this lovely creature at the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. It was love at first site. Well, it was lust really - he only cost $5.00 and to buy basil at the local grocery store it is usually 4 bucks and I never use all of it before it goes bad. So, I'm exercising my green thumb and I'm determined to keep Basil alive. Basil and I have a very loving relationship; I give him sunlight and I talk to him (because although I may look like a crazy lady doing so, I've heard talking to one's plants can help them grow) as well as watering during the day. He gives me basil - that lovely herb and aromatic that is part of the mint family and that I cook with frequently. Don't you think he's cute? I'm in love with Basil and hope our relationship is a long and healthy one that contains many pots of spaghetti sauce, pasta, and caprese!
